Written reprimand of Officer Justin Crook

Commander Rogers delivered a written reprimand to Officer Crook for not entering the identifying information or version of events of a subject involved in an incident. His actions violated policy 402.2.2 (a).

Formal Complaint: Impartial attitude and courtesy, when department issued BWC system use is required and other policy violations

Complainant alleges that 911 was wrongly called on them after an employee thought they were shoplifting and the APD officer who stopped them asked unnecessary and disrespectful questions despite the employee letting the officer know that everything was fine. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive a B classification.

Formal complaint: Arrest guidelines

Complainant alleges that APD failed to respond when his ex, whom he has a protective order against, tried to break into his home. Complainant also alleges that police think it's all a joke. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive a B classification.

Formal Complaint: Insubordination, frisk (pat-down) for weapons and other policy violations

Complainant alleges that an APD officer who stopped him treated him like a criminal, was racist towards him and took his car without giving him a ticket and put him in the back of a patrol car. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive a B classification.

Formal Complaint: Assessment and de-escalation, impartial attitude and courtesy and other policy violations

Complainant alleges that an APD officer used overly-aggressive force as he attempted to safely park his motorcycle and used a negative tone with him during a traffic stop. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive a B classification.

Formal Complaint: Impartial attitude and courtesy, responsibility to know and comply and other policy violations

Complainant alleges that while he was waiting for a ride, two APD officers on bike approached him and one of them would not listen to him, got smart with him and asked him to leave. Complainant alleges that they also refused to leave and threatened to arrest him. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive a B classification.

Formal Complaint: Obedience to orders, insubordination and other policy violations

Complainant alleges that APD, SWAT and a helicopter came out to her house looking for someone who doesn't live there. Complainant alleges that officers called herself, her daughter and grandchild to stand outside, despite her stating that she has bad arthritis in her back, without explaining what was going on and conducted a search. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive a B classification.

Complainant alleges that APD officers searched his apartment without a warrant and confiscated his guns, twisted his girlfriends arm and threw her in the car and behaved in an unprofessional manner. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive an A classification.

Formal Complaint: Impartial attitude and courtesy, acts bringing discredit upon the department

Complainant alleges that an APD officer posted on her personal page multiple statements that violate department policy. Complainant alleges that they made a statement referring to the shooting of a protester that occurred recently and has continually shown political and racial bias, impartial attitude and prejudice in her remarks. The OPO declines to make a recommendation.

OPO received more than one complaint regarding alleged comments made by an APD officer on social media regarding a death. The OPO recommends that this allegation receive an A classification.
